NBA free agency rumors: Amir Johnson, Raptors strongly considering reunion, SN sources say

Two years ago, Amir Johnson left Toronto to sign with the Celtics, and left his beloved Raptors fans with a heartfelt message on social media. Don’t take this as a goodbye, he said, but more of a see you later.

That later could be coming soon. Johnson is slated to be a free agent this summer after spending the last two seasons in Boston. There’s virtually no chance that the Celtics, who are planning to bring in young big guys Ante Zizic and Guerschon Yabusele, will re-sign Johnson come July. Johnson started 77 games for Boston, but was the starter in only nine of the team’s 18 playoff games and did not play at all in four of them.

And with that, Green continues to cement his place among heels that Cleveland has encountered through the years. He made that list after getting suspended in Game 4 of last year’s NBA Finals. Green isn’t the only NBA player that Cleveland has loved to loathe.

The Shot. That’s really all you have to say. Jordan knocked the Cavaliers out of the 1988-89 playoffs with a buzzer-beater over Craig Ehlo, and he still haunts Cleveland today when it comes to the argument of the best player of all time. Jordan seriously might never go away.

In that 1989 season, Mahorn elbowed Mark Price in the head, a cheap shot that inflamed tensions between the Cavs and the Bad Boys. Mahorn was fined $5,000 for the incident.

What’s so good about Cleveland? Noah launched several verbal jabs at the Cavaliers during his time with the Bulls, but it rarely worked on the court. The Bulls lost to the Cavs in the playoffs in 2009-10 and 2014-15.

NBA Draft 2017: LaVar Ball banned from Lonzo’s workout with the Lakers

Lonzo Ball spent his Wednesday working out for the only team his outspoken father wants to draft him, the Los Angeles Lakers.

Coach Luke Walton told Jim Rome on Tuesday that Lonzo’s workout will be closed to everyone, including LaVar.

While Walton wanted to keep LaVar away from the workout, Walton did say he was welcome to dinner.

Absolutely. If he wanted to come to the dinner, Walton said. I think the workout is something that we’ll keep the doors closed on, but the dinner, I think he would definitely make the dinner more entertaining. He’s definitely welcome to join us for that one.

The Lakers are expected to select Lonzo with the second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft on June 22.

Kyrie knocks down a pull-up three to cut Boston’s lead to 10. He’ll have to step up in a major way while LeBron is out.

Lonzo does not plan on working out for the Celtics, who have the No. 1 overall pick, and the notion that the Lakers could take Kansas forward Josh Jackson or Kentucky guard De’Aaron Fox with the second pick has become so real that Ball’s camp, which started the process saying he’d only meet with the Lakers, have expressed a willingness to meet with the Philadelphia 76ers and possibly the Sacramento Kings depending on how things go with the Lakers. Neither are expected to get a workout out of Ball, but both may get a chance for a face to face meeting.

Tom Brady had a shortened MVP-caliber season.

they are the reasons why the Patriots remain in mythical beast mode as the dominant favorite in the AFC playoffs.

Call it New England’s now three-headed backfield of Dion Lewis, LeGarrette Blount and James White. Actually, make it four, if you include that hoss of a fullback James Develin.

Without Gronk, they are the reasons why the Patriots remain in mythical beast mode as the dominant favorite in the AFC playoffs.

Sure, Tom Brady had a shortened MVP-caliber season. Minus his top tight end, he’s still got Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Danny Amenodola, Michael Floyd and Bennett to throw the ball to.

But it was nice of Brady to be a little off his game in Saturday’s 34-16 win over Houston, if only to remind how much his running backs make the offense tick.

As individuals, Lewis, Blount and White are above-average talents. As a whole, with their various skill sets playing off each other from situation to situation, game to game, they’re downright dangerous and have made the Patriots extremely hard to defend.

Lewis was warmed up for the playoffs, getting massive volume in the final three regular-season games. The Patriots didn’t hold him back as a runner, receiver or returner against Houston, as he found the end zone all three ways. White saw only one touch, but turned into a critical third-quarter touchdown catch and run from Brady. There was Blount, the 18-touchdown, 1,161-yard machine, with only eight ineffective carries against the Texans.

With all of that, 17th suddenly seems like an insult. Top 10 is much more fair, which means the likes of Summitt, Bob Knight and Nick Saban who just coached in his sixth college national title game might need to step aside.

In fact, can anyone make that clear-cut a case for the top five coaches all being better than he is?

Tony Romo trade rumors: QB’s contract among complicating factors for swift move

The Cowboys’ playoff loss Sunday made two things clear: First, as Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said, this is just the beginning in Dallas. And, second, that beginning is definitely the end of Tony Romo.

And while owner Jerry Jones isn’t eager to discuss Romo’s future, the topic tops the team’s offseason agendas.

Members of the site had created a disturbance at the league office, the spokesman said about the reasoning.

The punishment somehow didn’t affect PFTCommenter, a well-known member of the site, as he was at Monday’s media day, and even got to ask Bill Belichick a question about the gritty Danny Woodhead.

Banning Barstool from engaging in other media events won’t eliminate the site’s presence at Houston, however. The site has a show on Comedy Central called The Barstool Rundown where they will recap the daily activities from Super Bowl week.

In each of his two College Football Playoff title games, Waston ripped through an Alabama defense loaded with elite future NFL talent for 400-plus yards passing. Winning isn’t really a QB stat, but it’s the bottom-line intangible when evaluating QBs.

Texans won’t replace OC; Bill O’Brien will make play calls

The chaos surrounding the coaching changes with the Houston Texans is still underway, but the team reportedly isn’t going to even bother hiring a new offensive coordinator.

The position will remain vacant next season and head coach Bill O’Brien will make the play calls, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Receivers coach Sean Ryan will move to coach the quarterbacks with the help of offensive assistant Pat O’Hara.

The Texans fired offensive coordinator George Godsey on Monday after a rough season. Godsey made the offensive play calls for the first three games of the season, butO’Brien took over after the Texans’ 27-0 loss to theNew England Patriots.

After that, the pair coordinated the calls together.

Godsey was also the main quarterbacks coach, which likely led to his firing, since Brock Osweiler was inconsistent at best in his inaugural season in Houston.

The Falcons’ defense is starting to come together under coach Dan Quinn, but they’re still lacking a complete nose tackle to anchor the inside. Adams is a perfect fit for that role, and he alongside Grady Jarrett can give the Falcons a formidable duo inside to compliment Vic Beasley on the perimeter.

Pittsburgh likely will go one of two directions with its first-round pick: edge rusher or safety. This class is loaded at safety, and unless a top strong safety option slips, the Steelers may be better suited to take a top-end pas rusher. McKinley is explosive, active and seems to fit the style and body type Pittsburgh covets at the position.

White Sox’s Yolmer Sanchez awarded wacky ‘home run’ after ball fools umps

Chidobe Awuzie Elite Jersey Yolmer Sanchez stopped at third base. The White Sox second baseman thought he had a leadoff triple after leading off Tuesday’s game in Tampa with a sharply hit ball that Rays center fielder Kevin Kiermaier appeared to misplay.

The line drive fly ball off the bat of the left-handed hitting Sanchez took a hard left as it sliced away from Kiermaier. There was confusion, not just on the part of Kiermaier, but the umpires reviewed the play and awarded Sanchez a home run.

The umpires ruled that the ball hit one of the support rods connected to the lower catwalks, known as the ‘C-Ring’ and the ‘D-Ring’ at Tropicana Field. But the ball does not appear to hit anything and simply sliced away from Kiermaier the way many balls go awry on amateur golf courses.

Instead of a triple courtesy of an inside-out swing, Sanchez got his third home run of the season in the weirdest fashion. The White Sox went on for a 4-2 victory.

Jessica and Jordon have heard that same life philosophy from their mom and dad for years.

Jordon is practicing what Nicole and Scott have preached, which is so very gratifying for a couple of proud parents. And their kid has developed into one heck of a baseball player, too, which is a nice bonus.

Survey: God cares about the Super Bowl, but not as much as he used to

One of those is likely to be thought or spoken by a lot of people Sunday night at the conclusion of Super Bowl 51, if a recent survey is to be believed.

Around 25 percent of Americans believe God will play an active role in Sunday’s game between the Falcons and Patriots, according to new data from the nonprofit Public Religion Research Institute. The institute polled more than 1,000 Americans last month and found that a quarter of them believe the Almighty definitely plays favorites when it comes to sporting events. Further, 49 percent believe God rewards players of faith with good health and success on the field.

In response to Smith’s radio interview, the Bears released a statement, “We join the four other major professional Chicago teams in monitoring and supporting changes to the system that protect athletes’ rights under the workers compensation system while acknowledging athletes are not competing professionally until age 67. Nothing in the wage differential language under consideration impacts the right for any athlete to receive just compensation for partial or permanent injury, medical benefits, or to file a claim itself.”

But Chicago lawyer Richard R. Gordon, who lobbies on behalf of NFL players, testified last week that the bill would mostly impact lesser-compensated athletes, such as soccer and minor-league baseball players.

Gordon also told the Tribune, “If you pay millions of dollars to have your employees entertain people, those employees should be compensated and taken care of when they’re injured for life because of that ‘show’ (and) what this law looks to do is take away protection benefits, to lower those further. These guys are going to have life-long injuries and are entitled to the compensation that will help them in the long run.”texans_135

It’s also down to the offensive line thriving in that patented Shanahan zone blocking scheme. Like for Mike, that makes Kyle capable of being in charge of so much more.

Patriots’ Devin McCourty to join Martellus Bennett in White House boycott

Blaine Gabbert Kids Jersey New England defensive back Devin McCourty also announced Monday he won’t be visiting President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C.

In a plea deal Monday, Orange County prosecutors agreed to drop the hit-and run offense in exchange for Rodman’s guilty plea to the three other charges, according to the Orange County Register.

Rodman was ordered to provide 30 hours of community service in addition to probation.

Trout goes to the disabled list just as he was, somehow, getting even better at baseball. He entered Monday’s games with a major league-best 3.5 WAR, the product of 16 home runs (including this mammoth blast), a 1.203 OPS and his usual top-notch defense and baserunning.

He was helping the Angels hover around .500 and stay in the American League wild-card race (they trailed the first-place Astros by 10 games in the West). Another MVP award was on the table. With Trout out for up to two months, a lot of that hope goes away.

The Chris Sale: Tickets at Fenway Park are some of the most expensive in the league. It’s not as if the Red Sox, flirting with .500, are worth the price of admission this year. As a sign of goodwill, the team should discount all seats on days in which its best pitcher throws. Maybe it’s too late for 2017, but in all future seasons, every fifth day will be known as the Chris Clearance Sale. Come to the ballpark to see a dominant lefty at a reduced cost — because you’re already paying way too much to watch whoever we trot out as our fifth starter. The Red Sox will make up the money by paying Sale a relative bargain rate through 2019.

Trout night, every night: Since Mike Trout practically is the Angels offense, and he produces runs it in so many ways, every day should provide a new spin on the low-hanging fish puns. Rainbow Trout night: when the team hands out red, orange, yellow, green, blue and violet jersey T-shirts to corresponding sections.
